The Fire Marshal's Office & Public Fire Education section covers many topics regarding fire safety including some regulations the citizens of Simsbury should be aware of. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce that Andrew LeFebvre has been award-ed the 2009 Lieutenant Richard Kelleher Scholar-ship. The scholarship was started in memory of Lieutenant Kelleher who died in the line of duty fighting the Knights of Columbus Hall fire in 1981. Congratulations to Firefighter Andrew LeFebvre on being awarded this year's scholarship.

The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce that Lee Adamowicz, a Scout member of Troop 175 in Simsbury and a Junior Firefighter with the Fire Company, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company congratulates Lee Adamowicz on his hard-earned achievement and we are proud to claim him in our ranks.

The Simsbury Board of Selectmen have named Fire District Clerk William Ketchabaw as a Hometown Hero for his 39 years of volunteer work in Simsbury and abroad. The Hometown Hero Program was started by the state in 1986 to recognize those who have made their communities a better place in which to live.

On the evening of June 4, Members of the Fire Company along with family and friends gathered at the Weatogue Station for a promotion ceremony. Lieutenant Adam Libros was promoted to the rank of Captain and assigned to lead the station. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company congratulates Captain Libros on his promotion and we wish him all the best with his new duties.

Each year, the Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary commemorate the Memorial Day holiday by participating in two very special observances. On the Sunday before Memorial Day, Members travel to the graves of every deceased Honorary and Honorary Life Member who are buried within Simsbury and other nearby towns throughout the area. On Memorial Day, the Fire Company participates in the town's two parades.

On the evening of April 30, Members of the Fire Company along with family and friends gathered at the Firefighter's Clubhouse for a promotion cere-mony. Captain Randall Chesanek was promoted to the rank of 2nd Assistant Chief, 2nd Assistant Chief Patrick Tourville was elevated to 1st Assistant Chief, and appointed to the rank of Lieutenant was Firefighter Brendan Letson. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company congratulates the officers on their promotions and we wish them all the best with their new duties.

It is with much regret that the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company announces the retirement of Chief Geoff Giddings who has given fifteen years of service to our department and the Town of Simsbury. IN CASE OF EMERGENCY DIAL 911!

In Simsbury, dialing 911 gives you immediate access to the fire department, police and EMS. Emergency calls may also be placed via the red emergency phones located on the front of all of our fire stations except Main Station as our dispatch center is located there. For non-emergency calls you may contact the fire department directly by dialing 658-1971.
