A fire lane defined is a
designated, unobstructed passageway sufficient in size and constructed in a
manner to permit free passage of fire apparatus and other emergency
equipment from a public highway to all necessary areas around or upon any
private shopping center or around any office building, manufacturing
building, hospital, convalescent home, school or public building in all
seasons and in all kinds of weather. No person shall park or be permitted to
stand a motor vehicle unattended by a licensed operator in any fire lane
except when actually picking up or discharging passengers or actively
engaged in loading or unloading a motor vehicle.
If you choose to park in a fire
lane your vehicle may be towed away, and the registered owner given a ticket
of up to $90.00 by the local police department.
So lets all play it safe! Please
do not park in fire lanes as you may prevent emergency response personnel
from being able to perform their jobs in a fast and efficient manner.
As always should you have any
questions please feel free to contact the Simsbury Fire District's Fire
Marshal's Office.
