In October of 2005,
the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company's Junior Firefighter Program
won an impressive fifth-consecutive Best All-Around award at the
statewide Junior Firefighter Muster & Challenge. Because of
their accomplishment, the Junior Firefighters and their Advisors
were invited to the State Capitol to meet with Governor M. Jodi
Rell on January 27, 2006.
Governor Rell
received the honored guests in her office. She spoke of her
fondness and appreciation of the fire service as her husband is
a volunteer firefighter, and expressed how proud she was of the
Junior Firefighter's work and congratulated them on their
accomplishments. Chief of the Department James Baldis presented
the Governor with a framed Fire Company patch to proudly display
in her office.
