On March 28,
2009, the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company participated in a
stair climb to help raise money for the American Lung
Association to fight lung disease. Sixteen Members climbed 34
floors in full structural firefighting gear complete with
self-contained breathing apparatus at the Hartford 21 apartment
tower. Simsbury had the largest firefighting contingent entered
in the event and was second in fundraising having raised over
$5,000 for the cause. The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company
greatly appreciates all those who sponsored our team and helped
us with this worthy endeavor. We also congratulate all of our
Members who participated and represented our organization so
admirably.
