Originally constructed in 1949, the Main Station located at 871 Hopmeadow Street has provided 60 years of great service to the Simsbury Fire District and Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company. Over the years the facility had undergone several renovations including the additions of the dispatch center, Fire District offices, apparatus maintenance facility and storage garages.

The replacement of the Main Station is the final step of the Fire District's long-term plan to modernize all of the original fire stations and bring the structures up to present-day codes and standards. Another reason for having to replace the station is because we have literally outgrown it.
