The Simsbury
Volunteer Fire Company is proud to announce that Lee Adamowicz,
a Scout member of
Troop 175 in Simsbury and a
Junior Firefighter with the
Fire Company, has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the
Boy Scouts of
America. The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest one can
achieve in Scouting. To attain this distinguished honor the
individual must progress through the ranks in Scouting over
several years and must pass specific tests organized by
requirements and merit badges.
The Scout must also
complete several community service projects along the way. For
his final project Lee chose to help the
American School for the
Deaf which runs a summer camp on an island in Salisbury, CT. The
nature trails there were in need of some maintenance and improvements.
With the help of
some fellow Scouts, Lee cleared brush and debris from the trails
and posted new trail markers which improved safety. He also
built four new benches, four birdhouses and a picnic table for
the trail. Approximately 200 man-hours went into completing the
work.
To fund the project
Lee Adamowicz organized a car wash at
St. Mary's Church which covered half the costs of the
project. He raised the other half by applying for a grant from
Northeast Utilities Environmental Community Grant Program.
Junior Firefighter
Adamowicz is well-respected within our organization and
personifies the quality of individual character which the Junior
Firefighter Program was designed to attract. He is a very active
member and frequently recruits new members to our program.
The Simsbury
Volunteer Fire Company congratulates Lee Adamowicz on his
hard-earned achievement and we are proud to claim him in our
ranks.
